Dog Boarding

Requirements Prior to Boarding:

**Vaccinations**

It is the pet owner’s responsibility to provide proof of all required, current, vaccinations prior to check-in. BVPR will not be held responsible for improper vaccine records.

A print-out from a reputable veterinarian with the date vaccines were administered and when the next vaccines are due is acceptable. If you are not sure if your pet’s vaccines are current, please call in advance of your travel plans as the veterinary clinics become busy, especially around the holidays.

We will not accept your dog into the kennel without proof of current vaccinations. Please plan ahead!

It is recommended that vaccines be given a minimum of 14 days prior to your expected boarding date. In order to receive the appropriate vaccines, please inform your veterinarian that you plan to board or kennel your dog.

**The Bordatella vaccine is not a “core” vaccine thus not routinely given. You must specify with veterinary staff that you are “boarding” your dog and request the Bordatella vaccine.**

REQUIRED VACCINES

  • Rabies

  • DA2PP (Distemper/Adenovirus type 2/Parvovirus/Parainfluenza) or similar

  • Bordatella (a.k.a. “canine cough”)

  • Not required, but strongly recommended, Leptospirosis

  • Not required, but strongly recommended, Coronavirus

What We Provide:

  • Stainless steel food and water dishes—please do not bring your own from home.

  • Bedding: We have a variety of blankets and washable beds on hand.

    • PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN BOLSTERED DOG BEDS. WE ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO ACCEPT THEM.

  • Tennis balls and other washable yard toys-washed and dried frequently.

  • Two scheduled feedings: 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM.

  • Two scheduled play times: 10:30 AM and 5:30 PM.

  • Lots of love and attention!

  • Food—fee for the provision of our food, $1.00 per cup (standard measure-8 oz.).

  • Medication-fee for administration of medicine. $2 per day.

Bon Voyage Pet Resort (BVPR) has large indoor runs to fit any size dog and most leave room for a 2nd or 3rd dog of the same family, depending on availability.

Kennel Sizes:

  • Gordes Cottage, 4’x6’, 22 total

  • Lyon Bungalow, 4’x12’, 13 total

  • Marseilles Lodge, 6’x12’, 8 total

  • Paris Villa, 9’x12’, 1 total

Pricing is the same no matter which kennel size. A dog’s length and weight as well as temperament are carefully reviewed on a case by case basis. While dog owner’s requests will be considered, management reserves the right to select kennel size and location.

Heated floors keep dogs warm from the bottom up during the winter; in the summer a large A/C unit keeps the run area cool.

Three spacious play yards help reduce stress and dogs go out to play or sniff around, four times per day. Staff play and interact with the dogs during these times. Dogs from the same family are let out to play together unless we are instructed otherwise. We do not offer group play; dogs will never share a yard with another dog from a different family. There is a chain link fence that separates the dogs, but dogs can sniff and make friends through the fence.

Kennels are inspected and cleaned at intervals throughout the day, keeping your dog’s run comfortable and inviting.

What to Bring:

Under Control: All dogs are required to be on a leash (or smaller dogs in a travel carrier) when entering or exiting the lobby. Please have dogs under control between your vehicle and the kennel lobby; dogs running loose in the parking lot are a safety risk for themselves (getting hit by a car) and from other kennel guests exiting or entering. You never know who is on the other side of the lobby door-not all dogs get along!

Food: Dogs do better with their own food, and we request that you bring your pets food from home plus an extra day’s supply in case you are delayed. We do have food available if you accidentally leave yours at home or prefer to use ours. We keep both wet and dry food in-stock. Our dry food is Kirkland Brand Lamb and Rice formula (No corn or wheat), green bag. Our wet food is Kirkland Brand Lamb & Rice or Chicken & Rice. We have a full-size refrigerator for storing perishable food. For health and safety reasons we do not accept or serve raw food: that includes frozen or freeze dried food. Raw food requires special handling due to the potential risk of foodborne illnesses that can be spread to other kennel guests. For example Salmonella, E.coli and Listeria bacteria can still be found in food that has been freeze dried or frozen. If your pet eats raw food at home as part of their diet, an alternate diet would need to be provided during kennel stays. Please do not send denta-stix (or similar), or raw-hide chews with your dog as we cannot allow them in the kennel due to potential choking hazard. The provision of our food is a $1.00 per cup feeding fee.

Medications: Our trained and skilled staff can administer medications to your dog. A “Medication Log”, customized for each guest, accurately tracks the dispensing of medicines. Prescription medications - must be in their original containers with readable instructions. We follow the printed instructions “as prescribed” unless you provide alternate orders. Over the counter (OTC) medications - may be in Ziploc bags but must be identified and dosage instructions provided. The administration of medicine is an additional service with a $2 per day fee. Please do not crush or add medications to baggies of pre-portioned food. The kennel experience can be very simulating to some dogs and often they do not eat like they do at home, with medication being left in the bottom of the bowl or pushed out onto the floor. Keeping the medication separate from the food allows our team to closely monitor medication administration and ensure that it has been ingested.

Favorite toy: Dogs may have their favorite toy**. **Certain smaller toys and toys that are ripped or torn can be a potential choking hazard, please leave smaller toys or damaged toys at home.

We do not accept blankets, bolstered beds or cushions. BVPR has a fully stocked laundry and clean, appropriately sized beds and blankets are provided for every guest.
